Workshop Schedule
Part 1 Inspiration/Visioning your mask
The theme should be decided ahead, so materials for decoration can be gathered
DAY 1 9am-6pm
Guided meditation to clarify the vision and set the intention.
Part 2 Fabrication of the Base Form
The base is created on the face with plaster of Paris impregnated fabric. The form is completed with cardboard shaping, as needed. After drying thoroughly, gesso sealant is applied. When dry, the mask is ready to decorate.
DAY 2 10am- 5pm
Part 3 Decoration using the materials you have been gathering, to make your mask your own special creature.
Part 4 Celebration - to integrate,animate and ground the energy and power of the new mask.
Choosing a Theme for your Mask
If you need help to establish the theme of your mask - there is a list of 'Types of Mask', which will be available on registration.
Examples include:
*Archetypes
*Mythical Figures
*Animal Totems
*Emotional Exploration
I like to connect with participants ahead of the workshop to help with choice of theme. Discussion of present life situation, may produce an idea of an area that needs to be strengthened or shifted in some way. One woman reported to me that she had difficulty with confrontation - and when we looked at her animal totem cards, the wild boar came up. She was thrilled! - the quality the wild boar brings in, is confrontation! She made a wonderful wild boar mask!
Various card packs may be used for inspiration, chosen by spread or scrutiny.
It is important to have the mask theme established ahead of the workshop, so there is time for the decoration materials to 'come to you." Other than paint they are not provided.

Inner children are aspects of the self that split away in childhood, as a result of trauma
The front of this mask is suggestive of
both a shell and a warrior's helmet. It expresses the protective aspect of the adult who has learns to care for the vulnerable inner children.
Inside the mask is a collage of flower images. Photos of zinnias, each representing a specific inner child. Zinnias are the flowers of the child in flower essence lore - and a representation of a clematis - the flower associated with 'here and now'
A crystal joins the outer and inner images - representing Spirit

The' Final Mother' Rite of passage ceremony
as outlined in Lynn Andrews' book 'Jaguar Woman' inspired these masks.
After witnessing this ceremony, Young girls in this Mesoamerican community go into their adult lives knowing who they are. I felt I would have been more comfortable in my Rainbow Woman skin, if I had had the benefit of the wisdom from this experience of this ceremony as a young woman.
Emotions Masks
Not all masks are beautiful. These are functional masks which helped me move through some difficult feelings.
THE ANGER MASK on the left ended up being destroyed, when the feeling had been expressed and it's work was done.
THE FEAR MASK on the right was made at a time when I was being triggerd frequently into what seemed like states of shock and numbness - which I described as being 'like I was just hit over the head with something' After making it - I experienced several past life memoriies - in which I had received head injuries - mostly fatal .Subsequently I ceased to experience the trigger situations with such intensity.
